| Affiliate Members Are individuals who share common interests with those engaged in personal property appraising, but who do not wish to become appraisers and who are not involved in the appraisal process. Affiliate Members might be curators, educators, attorneys, judges, estate managers, insurance professionals, etc. Affiliate Members are not permitted to perform appraisal services or to represent themselves as appraisers. Associate Members Are members in good standing who have not yet completed the ISA Core Course in Appraisal Studies and/or satisfied the experience requirement in order to become an Accredited Member. Some Associate Members may be former Accredited or Certified Members who chose not to fulfill the requalification requirements for their advanced designations. Accredited Members Are appraisers who have successfully met these requirements. They have completed the ISA Core Course in Appraisal Studies, have passed the accompanying examination, and have a minimum of three years appraisal experience or its equivalent through education or business related experience. Accredited Members may use the appellation "ISA" after their names and must requalify every five years. Certified Members Are appraisers who have achieved the highest level of membership in ISA. The Certified Appraiser of Personal Property (CAPP) designation is attained by successful completion of a comprehensive program including: • The ISA Core Course on Appraisal Studies, which emphasizes the legal, ethical, and theoretical aspects of appraising. • A specialty course which covers the fine points of an appraisal specialty area in which certification is received. • Approved appraisal reports. • Approved professional development activities. • Passing a comprehensive examination Certified Members may also use the appellation "ISA CAPP" (as appropriate) after their names and must requalify every five years. Retired Members Are former ISA Accredited or Certified Members who, while no longer appraising, continue to contribute to the profession as a whole. Retired members may serve as consultants. |
