The International Society of Appraisers provides education and organizational support to our members and serves the public by producing highly qualified and ethical appraisers who are recognized authorities in professional personal property appraising.

The International Society of Appraisers was founded in 1979. ISA is a not-for-profit, member driven, professional personal property appraisal society and is the largest association of experienced and professionally educated and tested personal property appraisers in North America.

Members of ISA are charged with the responsibility of estimating accurate values of personal property for such functions as buying and selling objects, insurance coverage and claims, estate and gift taxes, charitable contributions, bankruptcies, family and business dissolution, liquidations, casualty loss, collateral, and expert witness testimony.

ISA is affiliated with the University of Maryland University College. The University program provides academic guidance to the ISA Certified Appraiser of Personal Property (CAPP) professional education program, reviews ISA course material, and ensures that the courses meet the University's high academic standards.
